Job Description: As a Forest Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in monitoring and assessing the health of forest ecosystems and managing forest pests, diseases, and disturbances. Your responsibilities will include conducting field surveys, collecting data, and analyzing forest health indicators to identify potential threats and develop strategies for prevention and control. You will assess tree health, identify invasive species, and monitor the impacts of natural disturbances such as wildfires, storms, and insect outbreaks. Additionally, you will provide expertise and guidance on forest health management practices, including pest and disease management, tree thinning, and restoration efforts. Your work may involve collaborating with other forest professionals, engaging with stakeholders, and participating in research projects related to forest health and resilience.

Job Requirement: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forestry, Forest Health, Entomology, Plant Pathology, or a related field. Strong knowledge of forest health principles, forest ecology, and identification of pests, diseases, and invasive species. Experience in conducting field surveys, collecting and analyzing forest health data. Familiarity with forest management practices, including pest and disease management techniques. Proficiency in using field equipment and tools for data collection. Knowledge of forest insect and disease identification, monitoring, and control methods. Understanding of forest disturbance processes, such as wildfires, storms, and insect outbreaks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess forest health issues and develop appropriate management strategies. Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate forest health findings and recommendations to diverse audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of GIS and statistical software for data analysis and mapping is desirable. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different forest sites. Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with advancements in forest health research and management practices.
