Job Description:
An Air Traffic Control Officer in Hawally is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of aircraft both in the air and on the ground. Operating from control towers, area control centers, or approach and departure facilities, they monitor aircraft positions, provide flight instructions, and manage airspace to prevent collisions and minimize delays.
The officer communicates with pilots via radio, giving takeoff, landing, and route instructions. They issue clearances, provide weather updates, and respond to changing air traffic conditions. Using radar systems, navigation tools, and advanced software, they track multiple aircraft simultaneously and coordinate with other control units to manage handovers across jurisdictions.
In high-pressure situations, such as emergencies, poor visibility, or technical issues, the Air Traffic Control Officer must make rapid, accurate decisions to redirect or prioritize flights. They follow strict protocols and maintain constant communication to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
This role demands excellent concentration, spatial awareness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential. Air Traffic Control Officers must undergo rigorous training and certification, including simulations, exams, and on-the-job evaluations. The role is critical to maintaining the integrity of national and international airspace systems.
