Job Description:
The Battery Repair Technician in Auckland is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing battery systems used in various applications, including automotive, backup power systems, renewable energy storage, and industrial equipment. Technicians conduct voltage testing, internal resistance measurements, electrolyte assessments, and evaluate battery life expectancy. Based on analysis, they perform cell replacement, terminal repairs, reconditioning, or cleaning of battery packs. This role includes disassembling battery units, identifying damaged or degraded components, and restoring performance to factory standards where feasible. Safety is a core priority, particularly when handling lithium-ion or lead-acid batteries. Technicians must record test results, prepare maintenance reports, and communicate battery health findings to supervisors or clients. Familiarity with charging systems, battery management systems (BMS), and thermal management components is important. The technician may also advise customers on battery care, charging techniques, and long-term maintenance. This role is based in a workshop environment but may include on-site servicing for large-scale battery banks or fleet operations.
Job Requirement:
Applicants must hold a certificate or diploma in electrical, electronics, or battery technology. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in battery diagnostics and repair—especially with lithium-ion or industrial battery systems—is essential. Familiarity with multimeters, battery analyzers, and BMS software is required. Strong safety awareness when working with high-voltage systems is crucial. Candidates must have good documentation skills, attention to detail, and an ability to follow technical repair protocols. Prior experience with EV batteries or solar energy storage systems is an advantage. A full driver’s license and the ability to occasionally travel for on-site service visits are also required.
