Job Description:

The Vehicle Parking Attendant in Wellington is responsible for managing guest or visitor vehicles in hotel, resort, or event settings by providing valet parking services or overseeing designated parking areas. Duties include greeting arriving guests, assisting with luggage if needed, safely driving and parking guest vehicles in secure areas, retrieving vehicles upon request, and keeping track of keys and parking tickets. In non-valet operations, the attendant may also supervise access control, provide directions, monitor parking compliance, and assist with traffic flow in and out of the facility.

This role requires excellent customer service skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to handle vehicles of various types, including both manual and automatic transmissions. Attendants must ensure all cars are parked safely, efficiently, and without damage. They are also expected to maintain cleanliness in the drop-off and pick-up areas and ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all guests.

A Vehicle Parking Attendant must be attentive, trustworthy, and able to act quickly and calmly in high-traffic situations or emergencies. The role may involve extended periods of walking or standing outdoors, regardless of weather conditions. Providing courteous, fast, and helpful service contributes directly to the first and last impressions guests have of the property.

Job Requirement:

A high school certificate is preferred. A valid New Zealand driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. Prior experience in valet parking, driving, or hospitality roles is an advantage. Candidates must be physically fit, have excellent driving skills, and be able to handle high guest volumes with efficiency and care. Good communication, professionalism, and a helpful attitude are essential. The ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays, is necessary. Familiarity with Wellington traffic patterns and local roads is beneficial.
