Job Description:
The Building Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of residential or commercial building premises. This role involves daily cleaning of common areas such as lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, restrooms, and utility spaces. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning windows, restocking restroom supplies, and polishing fixtures. Porters are also responsible for reporting maintenance issues, assisting with minor repairs, and monitoring the condition of public spaces to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for tenants and visitors. Porters may be called upon to assist with setting up meeting areas, helping tenants move items, receiving deliveries, or clearing walkways in the event of spills or debris. A Building Porter plays a key role in maintaining building standards and is expected to communicate effectively with supervisors and tenants. This position may involve rotating shifts, including early mornings, weekends, or holidays, and requires physical stamina for continuous movement, lifting, and standing throughout the shift.
Job Requirement:
No formal education is required, but previous janitorial or custodial experience is advantageous. Candidates should be physically fit, reliable, and capable of working independently. Good communication, attention to detail, and the ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols are essential.
