Job Description:
The ABS Technician in Calgary is a specialized automotive professional responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS) and related electronic safety technologies in vehicles. Working in automotive service centers, dealerships, or repair shops, the technician ensures the optimal performance of ABS modules to support vehicle stability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Primary duties include conducting system diagnostics using scan tools, testing ABS sensors, controllers, and wiring, repairing or replacing faulty components, and resetting system codes after repair. The ABS Technician may also collaborate with other mechanics on braking-related concerns, ensuring the full integration of electronic and hydraulic systems.
Additional responsibilities involve updating vehicle software related to braking and traction systems, inspecting ABS warning signals, documenting work performed, and educating customers on system functions and preventive maintenance. Precision, speed, and adherence to safety regulations are critical for success in this role.
Job Requirement:
Education: Automotive service technician diploma or certification; additional training in vehicle electronics is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive electrical or ABS diagnostics.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of anti-lock braking systems and related technologies.
Proficiency with diagnostic scanners and ABS-specific tools.
Ability to read electrical schematics and service manuals.
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Language: Functional English communication; French is an asset.
