Job Description:

The Air Conditioning Mechanic in Vancouver is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air conditioning and HVAC systems in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. The mechanic ensures optimal performance of cooling systems, contributing to comfortable and safe indoor environments.

Key duties include inspecting HVAC units, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, repairing or replacing components such as compressors, condensers, and fans, and performing routine preventive maintenance. The mechanic is also responsible for refrigerant charging, leak detection, system testing, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations regarding refrigerants and equipment handling.

Collaboration with building managers, contractors, and other tradespeople is essential for coordinating maintenance schedules and upgrades. The role demands a high level of technical knowledge, manual dexterity, and adherence to workplace safety standards.

Job Requirement:

Education: Completion of a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic trade program or equivalent certification.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience servicing HVAC or air conditioning systems.

Skills:

Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.

Knowledge of refrigerant handling and environmental regulations.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.

Skilled in using hand and power tools safely.

Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.

Language: Proficient in English.

Other Requirements:

Valid driver’s license.

Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
