Job Description:
The Building Electrician in Edmonton is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This role ensures that electrical infrastructure—including wiring, lighting, outlets, and control systems—operates safely and efficiently, complying with the Canadian Electrical Code and local regulations.
Duties include troubleshooting electrical faults, installing wiring and fixtures, performing preventative maintenance, testing electrical circuits, and upgrading outdated systems. The electrician works closely with facility managers, contractors, and inspectors to ensure safety standards are met and electrical systems support building operations without interruption.
The role may involve reading blueprints, handling tools and testing equipment, and responding to emergency electrical repairs. Safety and compliance with workplace health and safety standards are paramount.
Job Requirement:
Education: Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program; valid Red Seal Certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in building electrical maintenance or installation.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and wiring practices.
Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.
Experience with lighting, control systems, and electrical panels.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Language: Proficient in English.
