Job Description:

The Bakery Chef is responsible for producing high-quality baked goods including breads, pastries, cakes, and specialty desserts in a professional hospitality or foodservice environment in Winnipeg. This role requires creativity, consistency, and a strong understanding of traditional and contemporary baking techniques. The Bakery Chef plans daily production schedules, manages ingredient inventories, and ensures compliance with food safety standards. They may also design custom orders for events, work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, and assist in menu development with seasonal or themed baked offerings. Attention to detail, flavor balance, and presentation are crucial in meeting customer expectations. Additionally, the Bakery Chef is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace, training junior staff, and upholding kitchen efficiency during peak hours. The ideal candidate is passionate about baking, innovative in recipe development, and capable of working under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Job Requirement:

Diploma or certification in Baking & Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or related field

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a professional bakery or hotel kitchen

Proficient in baking techniques including fermentation, lamination, and cake decoration

Knowledge of Canadian food safety regulations and hygiene standards

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to follow and adjust recipes accurately

Creative flair with attention to taste, texture, and aesthetics

Comfortable with early morning shifts, weekends, and holiday schedules

Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy trays or ingredients

Team-oriented with excellent communication and leadership potential
