We are seeking a skilled Bioprocess Engineer to join our innovative biotechnology team in Berlin. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing bioprocesses used in the production of biologics, vaccines, and other bio-based products. You will work closely with R&D and manufacturing teams to scale up processes from the lab to commercial production, ensuring efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize fermentation, cell culture, and downstream processing methods.
Scale-up bioprocesses from pilot to production scale while maintaining product consistency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot process issues and implement improvements.
Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and other regulatory standards.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and process validation protocols.
Support technology transfer activities between R&D and manufacturing sites.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, or related field.
Experience in bioprocess development, fermentation, and downstream processing.
Strong knowledge of bioreactor operation and process control.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is a plus.
Proficient in data analysis and process optimization tools.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related life sciences discipline.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in bioprocess development, including fermentation, cell culture, and downstream processing in biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
Technical Skills:
Proficient with bioreactor operation, process scale-up, and optimization techniques.
Strong understanding of upstream and downstream processing technologies (e.g., chromatography, filtration).
Experience with process analytical technologies (PAT) and automation systems is highly desirable.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with GMP, FDA, EMA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks applicable to biopharmaceutical production.
Analytical Abilities: Ability to interpret complex data, troubleshoot process deviations, and implement corrective actions effectively.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a significant advantage.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, team player mindset, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
Other Requirements: Willingness to work on-site in Munich, occasional travel to other company locations or partner sites as needed.
