Job Description:
The Diesel Engine Technician in Al Ahmadi is responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel-powered machinery and engines used in construction equipment, industrial generators, trucks, and heavy-duty vehicles. This technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency and minimizing equipment downtime through preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
Job duties include inspecting engines, testing system performance, identifying worn or defective parts, and replacing fuel injectors, turbochargers, glow plugs, or pistons as necessary. Technicians utilize diagnostic tools and software to assess electronic control modules (ECMs), troubleshoot performance issues, and reset parameters.
Technicians must be adept at disassembling and reassembling engines, understanding cooling and lubrication systems, and identifying causes of engine overheating, fuel inefficiency, or power loss. Knowledge of emissions control systems and regulatory compliance is also crucial, especially with newer diesel technologies incorporating DPF and SCR systems.
Routine maintenance includes oil changes, filter replacement, belt adjustments, and system flushing. Technicians maintain service records, update digital logs, and coordinate with equipment operators and service managers. Depending on the employer, field service responsibilities may also be required, involving site visits and emergency repair calls.
Job Requirement:
Proven experience with diesel engine diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
In-depth understanding of diesel engine systems, fuel injection systems, and turbocharging.
Familiarity with engine control modules (ECMs), diagnostic software, and scan tools.
Ability to perform mechanical disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of engines.
Understanding of emissions systems and environmental regulations.
Skilled in handling lubrication, filtration, and cooling systems.
Ability to read service manuals and technical diagrams.
Vocational training or certification in diesel technology or automotive mechanics.
Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
Willingness to work on-site or in mobile units for field repairs.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Physical fitness to handle lifting, crouching, and extended tool use.
