Job Description:
The Structural Metal Fitter in Al Ahmadi is responsible for preparing, aligning, and assembling structural components made from steel and other heavy metals used in the construction of industrial equipment, buildings, and support frameworks. This role is vital to fabricating the foundational structures that support large-scale machinery and mechanical systems.
Duties include reading structural blueprints, measuring and cutting metal stock, laying out positions, and fitting beams, columns, braces, and plates into proper alignment. The fitter uses tools such as cutting torches, grinders, magnetic drills, and welding equipment for tack-welding and bolting structures into place. Quality and safety are paramount as structural integrity is critical in industrial settings.
Structural Metal Fitters may also work on scaffolding or elevated platforms and are often required to collaborate with welders, riggers, and engineers to complete large-scale fabrication and erection projects. The job requires precision, attention to structural tolerances, and familiarity with welding symbols and standards.
Job Requirement:
Technical diploma or vocational training in metal fabrication or structural engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural fitting in industrial or construction settings.
Proficient in interpreting engineering blueprints, structural drawings, and welding codes.
Skilled in using cutting torches, grinders, magnetic drills, and layout tools.
Ability to measure and align structural members accurately to specified tolerances.
Familiarity with bolted, tack-welded, and riveted assembly methods.
Knowledge of metal properties, structural load considerations, and safety codes.
Comfortable working at heights and using personal fall protection equipment.
Physical stamina and strength to lift and position heavy metal components.
Strong understanding of site safety regulations and structural integrity practices.
Ability to communicate with welding and erection teams effectively.
Willingness to work in varied environmental conditions and extended shifts when required.
