Job Description:

An Auto Paint Sanding Worker plays a critical role in the vehicle refinishing process by preparing vehicle surfaces for painting. This position involves sanding and smoothing body panels, doors, hoods, and bumpers using various hand tools, power sanders, and abrasives. The worker is responsible for ensuring that all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, degreased, and primed for basecoat and topcoat application. Duties include feather-edging rough spots, identifying imperfections in bodywork, and using putty or filler to level surfaces. The sanding worker must also mask off adjacent parts not intended for painting, maintain a clean and safe work area, and collaborate with the painters and body technicians to achieve high-quality finishes.

In this role, attention to detail, patience, and stamina are essential, as the worker may need to perform repetitive tasks in physically demanding positions. Experience with dry and wet sanding, orbital sanders, and sanding blocks is expected. Additionally, the worker must follow proper safety protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and working in a well-ventilated, dust-controlled environment. The ideal candidate should be passionate about automotive refinishing and committed to delivering top-tier craftsmanship in every project.

Job Requirement:

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Experience: 1–2 years in auto body preparation or paint shop work preferred.
Skills: Knowledge of sanding techniques, surface preparation, masking, filler application, and use of sanding tools.
Other Requirements: Must be physically fit, detail-oriented, and able to work in a team under tight deadlines.
