Job Description:

An Automotive Assembly Operator in Wellington is responsible for assembling vehicles on a production line with precision and efficiency, ensuring that mechanical, electrical, and body components are installed in the correct sequence and to quality standards. The operator follows technical drawings, uses pneumatic and manual tools, and works alongside other production staff to meet daily output goals. Tasks may include fitting engines, installing dashboards and infotainment systems, mounting suspensions, and securing electrical harnesses. Operators also verify torque specifications, inspect part alignment, and report any abnormalities or safety issues. Attention to quality control, cleanliness, and workplace organization is a major part of the job, as well as participating in regular production audits. Operators are trained in ergonomics and standard operating procedures and may be involved in kaizen (process improvement) initiatives. This is a physically demanding position that requires sustained focus and a commitment to team productivity and safety.

Job Requirement:

Candidates should possess at least a secondary school certificate, with vocational training in Mechanical or Electrical Assembly being preferred. Previous experience in a vehicle assembly or manufacturing role is advantageous but not compulsory. Key competencies include physical coordination, ability to follow step-by-step instructions, basic tool handling, and safety awareness. Strong teamwork, punctuality, and ability to adapt to repetitive but precise tasks are essential. Operators may need to stand for long hours, work in shifts, and perform under time constraints. Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and quality reporting systems is a plus.
