Job Description:
The Automotive Body Technician in Hamilton is responsible for repairing and restoring the exterior body of vehicles after collisions or wear. Working in collision centers or body shops, the technician inspects vehicles to identify structural and cosmetic damage, prepares repair estimates, and performs tasks such as panel beating, dent removal, frame straightening, and replacement of damaged body components. They use tools such as hammers, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment, and spray guns to reshape and refinish the body to factory specifications. The technician also applies fillers, sands surfaces, primes, and paints as necessary, ensuring color matching and surface finish quality. Vehicle safety systems, such as crumple zones and reinforcements, are restored in accordance with OEM standards. Attention to detail, accuracy in aligning panels, and a focus on safety are essential in this role. The technician works closely with paint specialists and estimators and may also interact with insurance assessors and customers. Keeping records of repairs, maintaining shop equipment, and adhering to health and safety regulations are part of daily responsibilities. This role requires a blend of craftsmanship, technical skill, and mechanical understanding to return damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition.
Job Requirement:
Education: Certificate or diploma in auto body repair or collision technology.
Experience: 2+ years in automotive body repair.
Skills: Dent removal, panel replacement, welding, painting prep, frame alignment.
Other Requirements: Good physical strength, eye for detail, safety awareness, and ability to work with precision tools.
