Job Description:

The Heritage Conservation Specialist is dedicated to the preservation and management of tangible cultural heritage sites and artifacts in Al Wakrah, Qatar. This role involves the meticulous assessment, documentation, and implementation of conservation strategies for historical buildings, archaeological findings, and traditional objects. Key duties include conducting condition surveys, developing conservation plans, performing stabilization and repair treatments, and advising on sustainable practices to protect heritage assets from decay and environmental impact.

The specialist will work collaboratively with archaeologists, historians, engineers, and local authorities to ensure conservation efforts comply with international standards and national regulations. This position requires a deep understanding of historical materials, conservation science, and cultural significance. The Heritage Conservation Specialist plays a vital role in safeguarding Qatar's rich historical legacy and ensuring its accessibility and appreciation for future generations in Al Wakrah.

Job Requirement:

Education: Master's degree in Heritage Conservation, Architectural Conservation, Archaeology (with a conservation focus), or a related field. Professional certifications in conservation are highly advantageous.

Experience: 3-5 years of practical experience in heritage conservation, including fieldwork, laboratory work, or project management related to historical sites or collections.

Skills:

Extensive knowledge of conservation principles, ethics, and methodologies for various types of heritage materials (e.g., stone, wood, metals, ceramics, textiles).

Proficiency in condition assessment and documentation techniques (e.g., photography, technical drawing, written reports).

Strong understanding of material science and environmental factors affecting heritage degradation.

Ability to perform hands-on conservation treatments and supervise conservation projects.

Excellent problem-solving skills for developing appropriate and sustainable conservation solutions.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Language: Fluency in English and Arabic is essential for effective communication with local teams, communities, and official bodies.
