Job Description:

We are hiring a dependable and service-oriented Bridge and Tunnel Toll Collector in Madrid. This position is responsible for collecting toll fees from motorists traveling through designated bridges or tunnels and ensuring traffic flows smoothly at the collection points. You will work from a booth or assigned station and handle both cash and electronic payment methods.

Daily responsibilities include verifying vehicle classifications, issuing receipts, giving accurate change, and resolving basic customer queries. You will monitor the flow of vehicles, report any suspicious or unsafe behavior, and alert supervisors to incidents or equipment malfunctions. Additional duties include basic recordkeeping, updating payment logs, and occasionally assisting in traffic control or lane closures under supervisor instruction.

Your position plays a key role in ensuring driver safety, infrastructure maintenance funding, and public satisfaction. You must maintain a professional demeanor, adhere to toll collection procedures, and follow all workplace safety guidelines. The environment may involve extended periods of sitting and working in enclosed booths, exposure to vehicle emissions, and high-volume traffic during holidays or peak hours. This role suits individuals who enjoy repetitive, structured work and are comfortable handling responsibility with minimal supervision. Your presence keeps city transit systems organized and functional every single day.

Job Requirement:

Candidates must have completed secondary school or its equivalent and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Prior experience in customer service, cashiering, or toll collection is an advantage but not required. You must be comfortable handling cash, operating card readers, and issuing receipts accurately. Strong numerical ability is essential for counting change and reconciling shift totals.

Communication skills in Spanish are required, and basic English knowledge is helpful for serving international drivers. You must maintain a polite and professional attitude at all times, especially when dealing with confused or frustrated motorists. Training will be provided in system operation, emergency procedures, and basic troubleshooting.

You should be physically capable of working long shifts, remaining alert in a seated position for extended periods, and occasionally assisting with traffic control or outdoor duties. The ability to follow strict operational guidelines and safety standards is essential. Familiarity with common road signs, vehicle classifications, and emergency protocols is an added advantage.

You must be flexible with scheduling, including availability on weekends and holidays, as toll booths operate year-round. Punctuality, honesty, and a high sense of responsibility are key traits. A neat personal appearance and respectful conduct with both supervisors and the public are non-negotiable expectations for this role.
