The Applied Biosciences Specialist plays a pivotal role in translating scientific research into practical solutions across sectors like agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and environmental management. This role involves utilizing biological knowledge and biotechnological tools to develop applications that improve crop yields, create sustainable biomaterials, optimize fermentation processes, or support bio-based diagnostics. The specialist works on applied R&D projects that address pressing challenges such as food security, clean energy, or public health.
Key responsibilities include designing experiments, analyzing biological data, collaborating with industry partners, and preparing technical reports or patent applications. The specialist contributes to feasibility assessments for bioscience-based technologies and supports the scaling of lab findings into pilot and production settings. They also engage in interdisciplinary projects that incorporate microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, and environmental science.
The Applied Biosciences Specialist must be a creative thinker and skilled experimentalist who can bridge the gap between scientific theory and industrial application. This role supports innovation pipelines and contributes to science-based policy, product development, or sustainability goals.
Job Requirement:
Applicants should have a master’s degree or PhD in applied biosciences, biotechnology, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in applied R&D, preferably in agro-biotech, bioenergy, or biomanufacturing industries. Proficiency in molecular tools, biostatistics, and bioinformatics is expected. Familiarity with scaling technologies, intellectual property considerations, and scientific project management is an advantage. Candidates should have strong scientific writing, analytical, and communication skills. Fluency in English is required, and understanding of UAE-based industry or academic research ecosystems is preferred.
