Job Description:
The Arc Welder in Sharjah is responsible for performing manual or semi-automatic welding using electric arc techniques to join metal components for structures, machinery, and industrial products. The role involves interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to determine specifications and measurements. The welder prepares surfaces by cleaning, grinding, or cutting metal and sets up welding equipment including selecting appropriate electrodes and adjusting machine settings based on the welding process and material type. The work requires precision, strength, and consistency to ensure joints meet quality and safety standards. Additional responsibilities include inspecting welds for accuracy, performing non-destructive testing (NDT) when required, and making repairs to faulty welds. The Arc Welder must also maintain tools and equipment, ensure a safe working environment, and follow fire safety and hazard control protocols. This position often requires working in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) and sometimes in confined spaces or elevated platforms. Strong collaboration with fabrication and quality teams is necessary to coordinate production needs and uphold project timelines. The job may involve working with structural steel, pipelines, construction frameworks, or heavy machinery components depending on the industry served.
Job Requirement:
Candidates must have a high school diploma or technical training in welding. A minimum of 2 years of experience in arc welding is required. Familiarity with SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), safety gear use, and welding codes is necessary. Ability to read blueprints, operate grinders or cutting torches, and conduct visual inspections of welds is essential. Physical stamina, hand-eye coordination, and willingness to work in high-heat or outdoor conditions are critical.
