Job Description:
The Bulk Material Handling Specialist is responsible for managing the transportation, loading, unloading, and storage of large volumes of bulk materials such as ore, aggregates, and overburden within mining or industrial environments. This role ensures that bulk handling systems, including conveyor belts, hoppers, feeders, stackers, and reclaimers, operate efficiently and safely to support production targets.
Primary duties include monitoring the flow of materials through handling systems, inspecting mechanical components for wear or damage, coordinating with control room operators, and performing basic maintenance or adjustments to optimize throughput. The specialist also oversees the safe use of loading equipment like front-end loaders or stacker-reclaimers, ensures material integrity during transfer, and prevents contamination or losses.
This role requires a proactive approach to identifying system bottlenecks, minimizing downtime, and maintaining proper documentation of handling activities. The specialist must work closely with production, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure compliance with environmental and occupational safety standards, especially regarding dust suppression, load limits, and machine guarding.
The work may involve exposure to noise, dust, and extreme weather, requiring full PPE compliance and physical stamina. The specialist plays a vital role in reducing operational disruptions and maintaining efficient supply chain flow in bulk mining operations.
Job Requirement:
Candidates should have a diploma in mechanical, industrial, or mining technology and 3–5 years of relevant experience in bulk material handling systems. Proficiency in operating and inspecting conveyors, feeders, and related equipment is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of safety and environmental protocols are also required. Ability to work shifts and in challenging environments is mandatory.
