The Core Sample Drilling Technician specializes in drilling and retrieving intact rock core samples for geological and mineralogical analysis. Responsibilities include setting up core drilling rigs, ensuring proper bit selection, monitoring rotation speeds, and recording core depths. The technician logs samples, labels cores, and prepares them for laboratory transport. Preventive maintenance of core drilling equipment and safety checks are part of daily operations. The technician ensures continuous sampling with minimal core loss and communicates findings to geologists. This role may involve working on mining sites, exploration zones, or infrastructure projects, often in remote areas. It requires precision, attention to detail, and strict safety compliance.
Job Requirement:
An associate degree in geology, mining, or drilling technology is beneficial. At least 2 years of experience in core drilling operations is required. Familiarity with diamond drilling methods, core handling, and geological recording is essential. Technical aptitude, manual dexterity, and fieldwork endurance are important for success in this role.
