Job Description:
The Conveyor Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining conveyor belt systems used in material handling within mining and industrial operations. These systems transport raw materials, overburden, and processed output throughout the site, and their reliability is critical to production efficiency.
Duties include identifying wear or misalignment in belts, rollers, pulleys, and motors; conducting belt tracking adjustments; replacing defective bearings, scrapers, or idlers; and ensuring all safety guards and emergency stops are functional. The technician also conducts scheduled preventive maintenance, vibration monitoring, and minor structural repairs to conveyors, chutes, and feeders. In emergency situations, quick response and troubleshooting to restore operations is crucial.
The technician reads technical manuals and mechanical drawings, maintains inspection logs, and coordinates closely with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure proper function of interlinked systems. Work may require lifting heavy parts, climbing onto elevated conveyor frames, and working in dusty or enclosed environments. Lockout/tagout procedures and PPE compliance are strictly enforced to prevent injuries.
Job Requirement:
A diploma or certificate in mechanical maintenance or industrial technology is required, with 3+ years of conveyor repair experience in a mining or material handling setting. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, belt alignment, and equipment safety is essential. Candidates must be able to work in rotating shifts, perform physical tasks, and operate in a safety-critical environment.
