Job Description: We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Senior Careers Advisor to join our team in Calgary, Canada. As a Senior Careers Advisor, your role will involve providing career guidance, counseling, and support to students and individuals seeking guidance in their career paths. You will work closely with students, parents, and other stakeholders to help them make informed decisions about their education, training, and career goals. Key Responsibilities: Conduct career assessments and aptitude tests to evaluate individuals' interests, skills, and abilities. Provide one-on-one career counseling sessions to students and individuals, helping them explore career options, set goals, and develop career plans. Assist individuals in identifying their strengths and areas for development, and provide guidance on acquiring the necessary skills and qualifications. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, labor market information, and educational requirements to provide accurate and relevant career advice. Research and compile information on various occupations, educational programs, training opportunities, and employment prospects. Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and career fairs to educate students and individuals on career development topics and job search strategies. Collaborate with educational institutions, employers, and community organizations to develop partnerships and internship opportunities for students. Assist in resume writing, interview preparation, and job search techniques to help individuals successfully transition into their chosen careers. Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, assessments, and individual career plans. Stay abreast of ethical guidelines and professional standards in career counseling and maintain confidentiality. Qualifications: Education: A bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, education, or a related field is required. A master's degree in counseling or career development is preferred. Experience: Previous experience in career counseling or advising roles, preferably in an educational or training setting. Career Development Knowledge: Strong understanding of career development theories, vocational assessments, and career exploration resources. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and professionals. Ability to listen attentively and provide clear guidance and feedback. Empathy and Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, showing empathy, understanding, and cultural sensitivity. Knowledge of Education and Employment Trends: Familiarity with educational pathways, training programs, and labor market trends to provide accurate and relevant career advice. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze individuals' career goals, identify obstacles, and develop strategies to overcome challenges. Strong Networking Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, employers, and community organizations to facilitate career opportunities for students. Technology Skills: Proficiency in using career development software, online resources, and computer applications relevant to career counseling. Ethical and Professional Standards: Adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards in career counseling, maintaining confidentiality, and respecting individuals' privacy.
