Job Description:

The Animal Care Attendant provides dedicated daily care for household pets in a private residence in Ottawa. This position involves ensuring pets are clean, well-fed, exercised, and emotionally supported throughout the day. Tasks include feeding pets according to dietary plans, refreshing water, grooming (brushing, bathing, nail trimming), cleaning pet enclosures, and engaging animals in physical activity or playtime to promote health and stimulation.

The attendant monitors pets’ health conditions, behavior, and general well-being and communicates concerns promptly to the household or veterinary providers. Additional responsibilities may include cleaning litter boxes, handling pet waste, assisting with training routines, and occasionally supporting visits to veterinary or grooming services.

The ideal candidate is calm, reliable, and passionate about working with animals of various species and sizes. They must maintain a clean and safe environment for pets and respect the privacy of the household. This position may involve shift work, including weekends and holidays.

Job Requirement:

Education: High school diploma preferred; animal care training or certification is an advantage.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in pet care, kennels, or veterinary clinics is desirable.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of pet hygiene and handling.

Comfort with animals of varying temperaments.

Ability to clean and maintain pet living spaces.

Attention to detail and quick response to pet needs.

Language: Basic English communication skills.

Other Requirements:

Physically fit to handle pets and perform manual cleaning tasks.

Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Flexible with work hours and able to handle emergency calls.

Trustworthy with verifiable references.
