Job Description:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential in-home healthcare support to elderly or recovering clients in a private household in Vancouver. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, personal hygiene, mobility support, basic health monitoring, and companionship. Under the supervision of a registered nurse or family physician, the CNA may also help administer medications, record vital signs, and report any health changes to appropriate medical personnel or family members.

Other responsibilities include preparing meals according to dietary requirements, light housekeeping in the client’s personal space, helping with bathing, dressing, toileting, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. Emotional support and patient dignity are key components of this role, requiring patience, compassion, and reliability.

The CNA may also accompany the client to medical appointments or therapy sessions, and assist with rehabilitation exercises as instructed. This position is vital to improving the client’s quality of life while enabling them to remain comfortably in their home.

Job Requirement:

Education: Certification from a recognized Nursing Assistant or Personal Support Worker (PSW) program in Canada.

Experience: 1–3 years in home care, elder care, or hospital settings preferred.

Skills:

Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and hygiene practices.

Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients with mobility.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Competent in recording vital signs and observing patient health.

Language: Proficiency in English required; additional language skills are an asset.

Other Requirements:

Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Clean background check and health clearance.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or overnight shifts.

Empathetic, trustworthy, and dependable demeanor.

Familiarity with infection control and privacy protocols.
