Job Description:
The Grounds Caretaker is responsible for the upkeep, safety, and visual appeal of large private residential or estate grounds in Montreal. This role involves year-round maintenance of outdoor spaces including lawns, gardens, pathways, driveways, fences, pools, and other external property features. Key responsibilities include mowing, trimming, planting, snow removal, leaf clearing, pressure washing, and minor exterior repairs.
The caretaker ensures that grounds are clean, safe, and well-presented, reporting any hazards or property damage to the estate manager or homeowner. Duties may extend to managing irrigation systems, outdoor lighting, seasonal decorations, and securing gates or perimeters. During winter, snow and ice management are essential for accessibility and safety.
This is a hands-on position suited for individuals who take pride in property care and can work with minimal supervision. A good knowledge of landscaping tools and outdoor maintenance techniques is essential.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; training in groundskeeping, landscaping, or property maintenance is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or estate maintenance.
Skills:
Operation of landscaping and snow removal equipment.
Knowledge of seasonal property care practices.
Basic repair and handyman skills.
Physical strength and endurance.
Good communication and time management.
Language: Basic proficiency in French required; English is an asset.
