Job Description:
The Caretaker Couple provides full-service management and support for a private estate in Ottawa, ensuring smooth operation and maintenance of the property. Typically residing on-site, one partner is responsible for estate upkeep, security, and maintenance, while the other oversees housekeeping, guest services, and possibly cooking or errand-running. Together, they maintain high standards of cleanliness, order, and hospitality across the home and surrounding grounds.
Responsibilities include cleaning, laundry, gardening, minor repairs, seasonal property preparation, pet care, receiving deliveries, supervising tradespeople, and assisting with entertaining guests or family. The couple will act as trusted stewards of the estate in the owner's absence, exercising discretion and attention to detail in all matters.
Ideal candidates are experienced, proactive, and capable of managing large homes with minimal supervision. This role often includes private accommodation and is suited for long-term, stability-seeking professionals.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent for both; vocational or trade certification an asset.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in estate or household management, preferably as a domestic couple.
Skills:
General maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and landscaping.
Professional housekeeping, laundry care, and organizing.
Basic cooking or hospitality skills (preferred).
Strong communication and scheduling abilities.
Discretion, trustworthiness, and proactive problem-solving.
Language: Fluent English required; French is an advantage.
Other Requirements:
Both must hold valid driver’s licenses.
Willingness to live on-site and work flexible hours.
Background checks and strong references for both individuals.
Physically fit and capable of hands-on estate work.
Technological literacy to manage smart home systems and online coordination.
