Job Description:

The Aroma Technician in Quebec City is responsible for developing, testing, and applying aromatic compounds used in food and beverage products. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing product appeal through sensory optimization, focusing on smell as a key element of consumer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include formulating and adjusting aroma blends according to specified product profiles, conducting sensory evaluations, and collaborating with R&D teams to support new product development. The technician utilizes laboratory equipment and follows standardized procedures to ensure consistent aroma intensity and quality. They document test results, maintain inventory of aromatic raw materials, and assist in scaling up formulations from lab to production.

The role also involves routine equipment calibration, maintaining cleanliness in the aroma lab, and adhering to food safety and regulatory guidelines. The Aroma Technician works closely with flavorists, food scientists, and production teams to ensure aroma components meet all technical and commercial requirements.

Job Requirement:

Education: Diploma or degree in food science, chemistry, or a related field.

Experience: Prior experience in sensory labs, food formulation, or flavor/aroma development is preferred.

Skills:

Strong olfactory sense and sensory evaluation ability.

Knowledge of food-grade aroma compounds and blending techniques.

Proficiency in laboratory practices and documentation.

Physical:

Ability to stand during testing sessions and perform repetitive sensory tasks.

Comfortable handling chemicals and lab equipment under safety protocols.

Language:

Proficiency in English or French; bilingualism is an asset in Quebec.

Other:

Attention to detail, creativity, and strong communication skills.
