Job Description:
The Bakery Specialist in Quebec City is responsible for producing a wide range of baked goods including artisan breads, pastries, cakes, and specialty bakery items for bakeries, cafés, hotels, or retail food establishments. This role requires expert knowledge of dough fermentation, baking times, and ingredient combinations to consistently deliver high-quality products. Working under a Head Baker or independently, the specialist ensures recipes are followed accurately, production schedules are met, and hygiene standards are strictly observed.
Key responsibilities include preparing dough and batters, monitoring baking equipment, adjusting oven settings, icing and decorating finished goods, and organizing daily production according to demand. The Bakery Specialist may also provide customer service in retail environments, assist in managing ingredient inventory, and support seasonal product development. Consistency, creativity, and precision are essential in maintaining customer satisfaction and brand quality.
Job Requirement:
Education: Certification or diploma in Baking and Pastry Arts from a recognized culinary or vocational institution.
Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a professional bakery or commercial baking environment.
Skills:
Proficient in baking techniques, dough handling, and temperature control
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and allergen management
Ability to follow complex recipes and innovate new items
Manual dexterity and ability to work with bakery tools and equipment
Strong time management and organizational skills
Language: Fluency in French required; bilingual (French/English) preferred.
