Job Description:
The Dock Loader plays a vital role in the retail and consumer supply chain by ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of goods at distribution docks in Edmonton. Working within retail warehouses or logistics hubs, the Dock Loader handles merchandise transfers between delivery trucks, storage areas, and retail facilities. Duties include verifying shipment documents, moving pallets using pallet jacks or forklifts, and arranging goods on loading docks to optimize space and safety.
The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and protect merchandise from damage. Dock Loaders are also responsible for inspecting incoming shipments for accuracy, reporting discrepancies, and coordinating with warehouse supervisors for proper storage allocation. Time-sensitive tasks such as loading delivery trucks for on-time store replenishments are essential to maintain smooth retail operations.
This role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in fast-paced environments with fluctuating workloads. Dock Loaders are integral in keeping retail goods moving efficiently through the supply chain while upholding quality and safety standards.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 1–2 years in warehousing, logistics, or retail loading operations preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency in operating pallet jacks, forklifts, and other dock equipment.
Knowledge of loading/unloading procedures and weight distribution practices.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to read and verify shipping documentation.
Basic safety awareness in material handling.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long shifts, and work in indoor/outdoor dock environments.
