Job Description:
The Bulk Material Transport Driver in Dunedin is responsible for the timely and safe delivery of loose construction materials such as gravel, sand, crushed rock, cement, and other bulk commodities to and from construction sites, quarries, storage facilities, and processing plants. Operating heavy-duty trucks—such as tipper trucks, bulk tankers, or dump trailers—the driver plays a critical role in supporting infrastructure development, excavation projects, and site preparation activities. The position demands not only efficient and accurate transport but also strong coordination with loading operators, weighbridge personnel, and site supervisors.
Core responsibilities include inspecting the vehicle prior to each trip to ensure mechanical fitness, verifying load specifications and securing loads properly to prevent spillage or imbalance, and maintaining accurate transport logs. The driver must navigate both urban streets and rural roads, including construction zones, with precision and care, adhering to traffic laws and on-site safety procedures. Depending on the vehicle type and material, the driver may also operate hydraulic systems for unloading, such as tipping beds or pneumatic discharge valves for powders or aggregates.
The role may include cleaning the truck’s cargo area after deliveries, conducting minor maintenance, and reporting any equipment issues promptly to the fleet manager. Flexibility with working hours is often required, as deliveries may occur early in the morning or late into the evening to align with project schedules. The ability to follow mapped routes, adjust to weather or road conditions, and communicate delays or delivery issues is vital. Job Requirement:
