Job Description:

The Concrete Delivery Operator in Wellington plays an integral role in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of ready-mix concrete from batching plants to active construction sites. The job involves operating heavy-duty mixer trucks, verifying load specifications, and maintaining proper slump and mix consistency throughout the journey. Operators must navigate varying road conditions, often in congested city areas or narrow job sites, and accurately position the truck for discharging. On arrival, the operator assists in directing the chute or boom to deliver concrete into forms or equipment, while following safety protocols and wearing appropriate protective gear. This role includes conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, cleaning the drum and external surfaces, managing delivery records, and communicating delays or product issues to dispatch. Coordination with site personnel and an understanding of the concrete curing timeline are key. The job requires adherence to environmental controls, particularly for washout and spillage management. As construction schedules depend on punctual concrete delivery, this position is central to Wellington’s building sector, from residential builds to commercial structures and roadworks.

Job Requirement:

A valid heavy goods vehicle (HGV) license is mandatory, and prior experience in concrete or material transport is highly desirable. A high school diploma and knowledge of vehicle operation, concrete composition, and job site communication practices are important. Candidates must demonstrate responsibility in handling time-sensitive deliveries and exhibit awareness of safety regulations governing both road travel and site operations. The ability to maintain accurate records, follow dispatch instructions, and collaborate with site teams is crucial. Physical strength and endurance, along with a professional attitude and reliability under pressure, are also key traits for success in this role.
