Job Description:

The Manufacturing Assembly Technician in Christchurch is responsible for assembling mechanical or electronic components into finished products using manual and power tools. The technician works from technical drawings, assembly instructions, and blueprints to ensure accurate and high-quality assembly. Daily tasks include aligning parts, bolting or welding components, attaching wiring or tubing, and performing quality tests on completed assemblies. Depending on the industry—automotive, appliance, or electronics—this role may involve using soldering tools, torque wrenches, calipers, or diagnostic instruments. The technician must monitor part inventory, report any defects, and ensure that all work complies with manufacturing standards. Communication with engineers and quality assurance teams is often necessary to address design adjustments or production issues. Attention to detail and a strong grasp of mechanical and electrical assembly processes are vital to succeed in this role.

Job Requirement:

A high school diploma is mandatory, with additional vocational training in mechanical assembly or electronics being beneficial. Minimum 2 years of assembly experience is preferred. Applicants should be skilled in interpreting blueprints, operating hand tools, and using measurement instruments. Manual dexterity, teamwork, and the ability to meet production deadlines are crucial. Knowledge of safety procedures and lean manufacturing principles is an asset.
