We are hiring a polished and professional Formal Butler to serve a distinguished household in Barcelona. This role demands high standards of personal presentation, discretion, and refined service. As a Formal Butler, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of household operations including table service, wardrobe care, greeting and attending to guests, and coordinating household staff. You may also be involved in overseeing dinner parties, supervising vendors, handling correspondence, and managing domestic inventories.
Your presence must reflect the highest level of etiquette and sophistication. This role often includes tasks such as serving formal meals, managing wine selections, assisting with packing and unpacking for travel, and ensuring the smooth execution of events. Attention to detail and respect for tradition are essential.
You will work closely with the household manager or principals to anticipate needs, manage schedules, and maintain a serene and orderly environment. The ideal candidate understands the nuances of service and enjoys operating in an elegant, structured setting. Flexibility, loyalty, and the ability to handle sensitive matters with utmost confidentiality are essential. Job Requirement:
Candidates must have previous experience working as a Butler or in a similar formal household position, preferably in luxury residences or five-star hospitality environments. A strong command of Spanish is required, and English or French fluency is considered a significant advantage, especially for international guest service.
You must be impeccably groomed and well-versed in formal service protocols, including silver service, wine pairing, etiquette, and wardrobe management. Experience managing a team or coordinating with other household staff is also beneficial. Training from a hospitality or butler school is highly preferred.
The role requires long hours and flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. You should possess excellent organizational skills, be proactive in anticipating needs, and have the discretion to handle private family matters with care.
Trustworthiness, loyalty, and professionalism are non-negotiable. Candidates must also be physically capable of handling lifting tasks, assisting with luggage, or extended periods of standing. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel with the family, if required, will be advantageous. Background checks and references from previous employers in similar roles are required.
