Job Description:
The Access Control Guard is responsible for monitoring and regulating entry to restricted or secure areas at office buildings, industrial sites, residential complexes, or event venues in Calgary. Working under the supervision of a security coordinator, the guard ensures that only authorized personnel, visitors, or vehicles are allowed access. Duties include checking identification badges, logging entry and exit times, issuing visitor passes, and conducting routine inspections of access points such as gates, doors, and security booths.
In addition to access management, the guard may assist with surveillance monitoring, respond to alarms, enforce safety protocols, and assist in emergency evacuations. Guards are also expected to report unusual activities, maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized access, and complete daily logs and incident reports.
This role is well-suited to individuals with strong attention to detail, a calm demeanor, and a commitment to maintaining secure environments in Calgary’s high-traffic locations.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in access control or security services is an asset.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and follow security protocols.
Familiarity with ID verification systems and visitor management software.
Capability to remain alert during long shifts.
Basic report writing and documentation abilities.
Language: Functional English communication skills required.
Other Requirements:
Valid Alberta Security Services License is mandatory.
Clean criminal background check and legal work status in Canada.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Professional appearance, reliability, and strong interpersonal conduct.
