Job Description:

The Crop Harvesting Laborer plays a vital role in supporting agricultural production during peak harvesting seasons in Calgary and surrounding regions. This position involves manually harvesting fruits, vegetables, or grains by hand or using simple tools, sorting produce based on quality, and packing items for storage or transport. Laborers work closely with farm supervisors to ensure harvesting is completed efficiently and in accordance with safety and quality standards.

Additional responsibilities may include clearing crop residues, maintaining cleanliness around storage and work areas, and assisting with loading harvested goods onto trucks or into storage units. Work is conducted outdoors and requires stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks in varying weather conditions, including sun, wind, or rain.

This seasonal or full-time role is suited for individuals seeking hands-on work in the agricultural sector. On-the-job training is typically provided, making it ideal for newcomers to farming operations.

Job Requirement:

Education: No formal education required; basic reading skills are helpful for task instructions.

Experience: Prior farming or outdoor labor experience is an advantage but not mandatory.

Skills:

Physical fitness to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.

Ability to work quickly and carefully to avoid damaging crops.

Good hand-eye coordination for harvesting and sorting.

Understanding of basic safety and hygiene practices.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Language: Basic English communication is preferred for safety and coordination.

Other Requirements:

Willingness to work early mornings, long hours, and weekends during peak seasons.

Reliable transportation to and from rural farm sites may be necessary.

Must work well both independently and within a team setting.

Able to adapt to outdoor working conditions, including heat or rain.
