Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Aircraft Movement Coordinator to join our airport operations team at Munich International Airport. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely movement of aircraft on the ground—from gate pushbacks to taxi routing and stand allocation. You will serve as a central link between air traffic control, ground handling units, and airline operations to ensure that all movements follow protocol and timelines.
You will use specialized airport systems to monitor live aircraft positions and plan ahead for arrival and departure activities. Your daily tasks will include prioritizing movements during congestion, responding to aircraft emergencies or weather delays, and managing the allocation of runways and taxiways in collaboration with airside control teams.
This is a critical operational role requiring precise coordination and constant attention to detail. We value individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and can make real-time decisions that impact airport safety and efficiency. This role includes rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, to support our 24/7 operational needs.
Job Requirement:
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in aviation management, aeronautical engineering, or a related technical field. A minimum of two years of experience in airport ground operations or aircraft handling coordination is required. Experience working in a high-traffic international airport setting will be considered a strong advantage.
Proficiency in aviation software tools such as AODB (Airport Operational Database), surface movement radar, and NOTAM systems is preferred. Fluency in English is essential, while German language skills will be highly beneficial for effective communication with local teams and authorities.
Candidates must demonstrate strong situational awareness, problem-solving ability, and a calm demeanor in emergency situations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary as you will regularly coordinate with pilots, air traffic control, and airport departments.
Flexibility is essential, as the role involves working shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Eligibility to obtain an airport operations ID badge is mandatory. Prior certification in ICAO ground operations, IATA safety protocols, or related areas is desirable.
