Job Description:
We are hiring a skilled Drill Jumbo Technician to operate and maintain jumbo drilling rigs for our underground mining operations in Berlin. This position is critical in driving precision boreholes in rock surfaces for blasting and support installation during excavation and tunneling.
The technician will be responsible for setting up the drill rig, aligning the equipment to drilling patterns, and operating controls to bore holes to required depths and angles. Daily tasks include checking rock conditions, maintaining drill bits, and adjusting drilling parameters based on material hardness and site conditions.
In addition to operating the jumbo drill, the technician will be expected to conduct routine inspections, perform basic mechanical maintenance, and troubleshoot minor faults. The ability to work closely with blasting and geological teams is essential to ensure drilling accuracy and site safety.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong technical and mechanical aptitude, capable of working underground and handling heavy machinery in high-pressure environments.
Job Requirement:
Candidates must have completed technical training in mining, mechanical operations, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience operating jumbo drills in mining or tunneling operations is required, along with familiarity with drill control systems and support software.
Applicants must demonstrate strong knowledge of drilling techniques, rock mechanics, and underground safety practices. Hands-on experience with jumbo drill maintenance and tool replacement is essential. Understanding drilling plans and the ability to align equipment to exact specifications is a must.
Physical endurance and comfort working in underground environments are necessary. Candidates should possess problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in teams under minimal supervision. Knowledge of basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems is a plus.
Fluency in German is required for effective coordination and safety compliance. Basic English may be helpful for interpreting equipment manuals or international safety signage. A valid heavy equipment or drill operation certification will be considered advantageous.
