Job Description:
A Compaction Equipment Operator is required for a leading industrial machinery and construction company based in Florence. This role involves operating various compaction machines such as road rollers, plate compactors, and rammers to compact soil, asphalt, and other materials on construction and infrastructure projects.
The operator will be responsible for maneuvering equipment to ensure proper compaction levels that meet project specifications and quality standards. Daily tasks include conducting pre-operation checks, monitoring machinery performance, and coordinating with construction teams to maintain workflow efficiency and safety.
The ideal candidate has solid experience operating compaction equipment, a thorough understanding of compaction techniques, and a strong commitment to safety regulations. Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions are important.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a range of compaction machinery to compact soil, asphalt, and other materials
Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of equipment
Adjust machine settings to achieve desired compaction levels
Work closely with site supervisors and construction crews to ensure project requirements are met
Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental guidelines
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly

Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience operating compaction equipment such as road rollers, plate compactors, and rammers, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
Valid operator’s license or certification for heavy machinery operation is required.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in operating various types of compaction machinery with knowledge of their controls and functions.
Ability to adjust equipment settings for optimal compaction based on soil or asphalt type.
Competent in performing pre-operation inspections, basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of compaction equipment.
Familiarity with construction site safety procedures, environmental standards, and equipment safety protocols.
Physical & Safety Requirements:
Good physical condition to handle operating machinery outdoors in varying weather and work environments.
Excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and attention to detail.
Strong commitment to workplace safety, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety regulations.
Communication & Work Ethic:
Proficiency in Italian is required; basic English is an advantage.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and site teams.
Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work shifts and overtime as needed.
