Job Description:
The Airfield Operations Technician supports safe and efficient airfield operations by inspecting runways, taxiways, lighting systems, and signage. The technician ensures all operational areas are free from hazards, properly lit, and marked per aviation regulations. They also assist with wildlife control, debris removal, and reporting pavement damage or lighting outages. This role supports snow removal operations, field condition reporting (FICON), and provides communication updates to pilots and control towers. The technician coordinates with airport maintenance and emergency teams during incidents and ensures adherence to FAA or ICAO field operation standards.
Job Requirement:
A high school diploma is required; a technical certificate in airport operations or safety is preferred. Candidates should have at least 2–4 years of experience in airfield or ramp operations. Familiarity with airfield lighting, airport layouts, safety regulations, and operational inspection protocols is necessary. Ability to operate inspection vehicles, radios, and field measuring tools is essential. Must be physically fit and capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions. Shift flexibility and a valid driver’s license are mandatory. Knowledge of ICAO Annex 14 standards is a plus.
