Job Description:
A Bathymetric Survey Specialist in Salmiyah is responsible for conducting underwater depth measurements and mapping seafloor topography for marine engineering, dredging, pipeline laying, and environmental monitoring projects. Using echo sounding equipment, sonar systems, and data processing software, they generate high-resolution bathymetric maps and models.
The role involves planning and executing survey missions, collecting sonar and GPS data, calibrating instruments, and ensuring quality control. The specialist also interprets data to support engineering and environmental assessments and provides input for safe navigation, coastal planning, and offshore construction.
Job Requirement:
Applicants should hold a degree in Oceanography, Hydrography, Geomatics, or Marine Engineering. At least 5 years of experience in bathymetric survey operations is required, including experience in both shallow and deep-water environments.
Expertise in multibeam sonar systems, positioning technologies, tide correction methods, and bathymetric data processing software is mandatory. The ability to interpret geospatial datasets and create bathymetric charts using GIS tools is also essential. Fieldwork flexibility, excellent attention to detail, and familiarity with international hydrographic standards (IHO) are expected.
