Job Description:
An Electrical Cable Joiner installs, connects, and repairs underground or overhead electrical cables, ensuring safe and continuous power distribution. This role involves working with low, medium, and high-voltage cable systems across substations, streets, and facilities.
Duties include preparing cable joints, using resin and heat-shrink methods, inspecting cable conditions, performing insulation resistance tests, and restoring damaged cable lines. Cable joiners also assist with cable routing in trenches or ducts and follow layouts based on electrical drawings.
They work closely with linemen, engineers, and safety inspectors during construction or emergency restoration projects.
Job Requirement:
Candidates must have certification in electrical cable jointing or utility distribution. At least 2 years of experience in high-voltage or underground cabling work is required.
Skills in jointing techniques, cable testing, and use of safety equipment are essential. A clear understanding of electrical hazards, PPE use, and confined space work is important. Physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail are also necessary.
