Job Description:
The Control Panel Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing industrial and utility control panels used in power generation and distribution. These panels manage the operation of turbines, substations, generators, and other energy infrastructure. Duties include testing and replacing control relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), timers, switches, and sensors. The technician ensures the accuracy of monitoring instruments and display units and responds to faults or calibration issues.
Technicians also review wiring diagrams and blueprints, update schematics, and verify signal flow between system components. Troubleshooting often involves working in confined spaces and around live equipment under controlled conditions. The role requires close communication with automation engineers and plant operators to optimize system reliability and uptime.
Job Requirement:
A diploma or degree in instrumentation, electronics, or electrical engineering is essential. Experience with control systems and automation, particularly in power or industrial settings, is required. Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and software for PLC programming is expected. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to electrical safety codes are vital. Certification in industrial electrical safety is beneficial.
