Job Description:
The Boiler Fabrication Technician is responsible for assembling, welding, and maintaining industrial boilers and pressure vessels used in power plants, water heating, and steam generation systems. The technician works from blueprints and engineering drawings to fabricate boiler shells, fire tubes, and water chambers using cutting, rolling, and welding tools. Responsibilities include preparing metal surfaces, inspecting weld joints, conducting pressure tests, and installing safety valves and burners.
Technicians may work in fabrication workshops or directly on site during plant shutdowns or facility upgrades. Tasks require knowledge of high-temperature materials, boiler codes, and testing standards. Adherence to safety protocols is essential, as the job involves exposure to high heat, heavy metals, and confined spaces.
Job Requirement:
Candidates must have a technical qualification in welding, mechanical engineering, or fabrication technologies. Proficiency in welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding is required. Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) standards is essential. Experience with oxy-fuel cutting, grinding, and non-destructive testing methods is advantageous. Physical fitness, manual dexterity, and attention to detail are critical attributes. Safety training in confined space entry and hot work permits is mandatory.
