Job Description:
The Building Energy Assessor evaluates the energy performance of residential, commercial, or industrial properties to recommend improvements and reduce consumption. This role involves conducting detailed energy audits, using diagnostic tools to measure insulation, air leakage, lighting systems, and HVAC efficiency.
The assessor analyzes utility bills, interviews occupants, reviews architectural layouts, and simulates energy models to generate efficiency ratings. The results are compiled into comprehensive reports with suggested retrofits, potential cost savings, and environmental benefits.
This position is pivotal in supporting sustainable building practices and assisting property owners in qualifying for energy certifications or green incentives.
Job Requirement:
Applicants must hold a degree or certification in energy auditing, environmental science, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Accreditation from recognized bodies such as LEED, BREEAM, or national energy auditor programs is highly desirable.
Strong analytical and report-writing skills are essential, along with proficiency in energy modeling software and diagnostic tools like blower doors, thermal cameras, and digital data loggers. A detail-oriented approach and ability to communicate technical results to non-technical stakeholders are critical.
