Job Description:

As a Disinfection Specialist in Christchurch’s hospital system, you will focus exclusively on thorough disinfection procedures across high-traffic and high-risk areas of healthcare facilities. You will use fogging machines, steam sterilizers, UV light disinfection devices, and medical-grade chemicals to eliminate pathogens. Responsibilities include preparing rooms post-discharge, decontaminating equipment, disinfecting operating suites, and supporting infection control in outbreak scenarios.

You will be expected to track and log all disinfection work performed and respond to urgent cleaning calls as required. This role often involves preparing isolation wards or disinfection of ambulances, emergency corridors, and trauma units. Coordination with nurses, facilities staff, and infection prevention personnel is critical for effective coverage.

The work requires precision, professionalism, and strict adherence to health regulations and chemical safety protocols. As healthcare facilities strive to meet evolving health threats, this role is increasingly important. Flexibility, rapid response capability, and commitment to high standards of hygiene are crucial attributes in this position.

Job Requirement:

Candidates must have formal training or certification in disinfection or sanitization practices, with experience in hospital or healthcare settings strongly preferred. Knowledge of PPE protocols, sterilization techniques, and chemical safety is essential. The job requires physical stamina, attention to protocol, and calmness under pressure. Candidates should be detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of following disinfection procedures with minimal supervision.
