Job Description:
The Agricultural Mapping Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting precision agriculture and land resource management initiatives by collecting, processing, and analyzing spatial data related to agricultural activities. This role involves the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), GPS devices, and remote sensing technologies to create detailed agricultural maps that guide crop planning, irrigation, soil health monitoring, and fisheries resource mapping.
Responsibilities include conducting field surveys to capture geo-referenced data, assisting in drone and satellite image analysis, digitizing land parcels, and updating mapping databases with real-time land-use changes. The assistant collaborates closely with agronomists, soil scientists, fisheries managers, and farm planners to interpret spatial data for improved productivity and sustainability.
Additional duties involve generating map reports, maintaining GIS equipment, and supporting training workshops for stakeholders. The role demands accuracy, technical proficiency, and the ability to work in diverse field environments.
