Job Description:

The ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter in Doha facilitates effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing people in various settings such as educational institutions, healthcare facilities, corporate meetings, and public events. This role ensures that signed communication is accurately conveyed in both spoken English and American Sign Language to promote accessibility and inclusion.

Key responsibilities include interpreting spoken language into ASL and vice versa in real-time, assisting in the development of accessible communication materials, and collaborating with educators, healthcare providers, and community organizations to support the needs of deaf individuals. The interpreter also advocates for deaf culture awareness and contributes to creating an inclusive environment.

The ideal candidate possesses fluency in ASL and English, strong interpersonal skills, and experience working in diverse professional environments. Certification in sign language interpretation is highly preferred.

Job Requirement:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Sign Language Interpretation, Deaf Studies, or related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as an ASL interpreter in educational, healthcare, or corporate settings.

Skills:

Proficiency in American Sign Language and English.

Excellent communication and active listening skills.

Ability to interpret accurately and impartially in real-time.

Knowledge of deaf culture and accessibility standards.

Strong ethical standards and confidentiality adherence.

Language: Fluent in ASL and English.

Other Requirements:

Certification from recognized interpreting bodies preferred.

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to varying environments.

Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
