Job Description:
The Bioprocess Development Scientist in Al Shahaniya is responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling up biological production processes used in the manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, enzymes, and other biotech products. This role focuses on upstream and downstream process development, including cell culture optimization, fermentation, purification, and process analytics.
Key responsibilities include conducting lab-scale and pilot-scale experiments, selecting process parameters, evaluating bioreactor performance, and implementing process control strategies. The scientist collaborates with R&D, QA/QC, and manufacturing teams to ensure process scalability, reproducibility, and compliance with cGMP standards. Additionally, the role supports technology transfer, prepares technical documentation, and assists in regulatory filings.
This position is essential in advancing Qatar’s biomanufacturing capabilities, enabling efficient and high-quality production of life-saving biologics and other biotech products within the national healthcare and industrial landscape.
Job Requirement:
Education: Master’s or PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 3–6 years in bioprocess development or industrial biotechnology, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment.
Skills:
Expertise in upstream (cell culture/fermentation) and downstream (purification/filtration) processing.
Proficiency with bioreactors, chromatography systems, and analytical instruments.
Strong understanding of process optimization, scale-up, and validation principles.
Competence in data analysis, process modeling, and documentation.
Effective collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional coordination.
Language: Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Familiarity with biosafety, regulatory compliance, and process automation tools.
Experience with tech transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
Commitment to innovation and continuous process improvement.
Knowledge of Qatar’s biotech industry landscape is an advantage.
