Job Description:
The Biotechnology Research Associate in Doha supports scientific discovery and innovation in genetic engineering, molecular diagnostics, and bioprocess development. Working within an advanced laboratory or academic research setting, the associate performs key experiments involving DNA/RNA extraction, PCR amplification, protein expression analysis, and cell culture techniques. Responsibilities include maintaining detailed lab records, preparing reagents and buffers, managing equipment calibration, and contributing to the design of research protocols under guidance from senior scientists.
The associate collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on ongoing research projects that may lead to therapeutic, agricultural, or industrial biotech applications. They support data interpretation, participate in lab meetings, and may assist in drafting research publications and funding proposals. The role requires strict adherence to biosafety, ethical, and quality assurance guidelines while promoting innovation within Qatar’s growing life sciences sector. Occasional training of junior staff or interns may also be part of the role.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences.
Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in biotech, academic, or clinical research.
Skills:
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting).
Familiarity with cell culture and spectrophotometric analysis.
Strong lab record-keeping and data entry skills.
Understanding of biosafety and GLP standards.
Teamwork and problem-solving ability in a research environment.
Language: Proficiency in English; Arabic is an asset.
